I went out twice with Dave, he took us to spots I think only he knows about- his local knowledge and fishing techniques he developed for this fishery kept us in the catch- I found fishing out of Kodiak to be incredibly scenic, the island shorelines with the high peaks of the island are undeveloped and make it seem you are visiting a place lost in time. You don't have to be just fishing focused to enjoy the trip- I saw sea otters floating on their backs, dolfins, and a huge variety of birdlife.

We were mostly going out for King Salmon, but we got much more, we limited out on Rockfish, almost on Kings, grabbed a Silver Salmon and pulled in some really nice Ling Cod!!!! The weather was perfect and we traveled to all Captain Dave’s spots, we didn’t just go out and sit!!! It was a blast!! I was reeling in fish one time so fast I got tired!!!! The scenery was breathtaking, saw several whales, sea otter, and a whole bunch of jumping fish!! You can’t go wrong with the Fish N Chips and Captain Ron!!!!!!!!!! The boat is well maintained and very comfortable, toilet is nice sized and was clean!!!! We had loads of fun and learned a lot!!!!

  We had a great time! We caught a lot of fish (halibut, yellow eye, and cod) and saw some of the local wildlife. The crew was fun and very accommodating.

  Second year with Captain Dave. First year year was amazing but this year was even better. We fished for four days and limited out on halibut every day.... read more Captain Dave knows where the fish are at. A couple of times I dropped my line and it hadn't hit the sea floor before I had a bite.

With the king salmon we limited out three out of the four days including some 40+lbs ones. As well as kings we caught silvers, rockfish, lingcod, grey cod, sole and one very large skate. As well as the fishing, there were humpback whales around plus otters and all types of sea birds.

We went out on Dave's larger more comfortable boat and it has plenty of space for five guys plus crew. Looking forward to going back next year.

PS Biggest problem was finding freezer space for all the fish we shipped home.

Dave is the real deal; he doesn’t take you to a spot and “hope you catch fish.” He knows the perfect spots to take go catch Halibut and Salmon. Leave your noodle arms at home because these fish are big and fight, but he will set you up for success. (Dave is a straight shooter)We will definitely fish with him every time we come back.
